NERC Intelligence Brief

Two sessions for effectively scaling your energy fleet
What happens when you add 10 new generation sites to your portfolio? A nice bump in total MW capacity and a strengthened revenue stream is great news for investors and execs. But on the other side of the org sits a ground floor operations team absorbing hundreds of additional hours of compliance work. The silent inflation of responsibility without necessary support can become a massive burden, slowing business down.
On February 25th we are sitting down with Trent Derr from BayWa r.e. to talk about what it takes to scale compliance programs under NERC CIP. If you’re managing portfolios that land in Category 1 or Category 2 exposure, this conversation will help you act proactively instead of playing catch up.

RatorCon 2026 | Securing Our Assets: Scaling NERC CIP Compliance
Trent Derr and Peter Stovall, Product Lead for Raptor Comply
Insights into how a leading owner-operator is transforming compliance from a resource drain into a strategic advantage: reducing audit preparation cycles, reallocating compliance workload, and building scalable programs that support growth without proportional headcount or loss of quality. Attendees will be able to benchmark their own program’s maturity.

Industry Update ⚡️
NERC Opens Category 2 Advisory Sessions
NERC has started proactively onboarding new GO-2 / GOP-2 solar + storage operators with Small Group Advisory Sessions ahead of the May 15, 2026 effective date for an initial set of eight Reliability Standards. There’s a general live webinar on March 26 (2–4pm ET) meant to walk through day one obligations, plus optional one-on-one sessions March 30–April 10 for org-specific questions.
The deadline is less than 3 months away and once it hits you’ll officially be held accountable. $1M+ per day fines come into effect and auditors have authority to slow down and prod into your business. We recommend joining the NERC sessions sooner rather than later. Registration instructions can be found in page 5 of the NERC Standards, Compliance, and Enforcement Bulletin. One-on-one sessions require emailing a registration request to charlie.cook@nerc.net by February 27th.
